2.5 years old...on the 17th

I had full intentions to write this post Monday on my baby's 2 1/2 year birthday, but I woke up that morning with the lovely stomach virus. YUCK!! There is nothing worse in the world...

Anyway....back to the subject at hand - William Warner is 2 1/2 !!!!! This is such a fun, but challenging age. He is a little man now, he can carry on a conversation, and he can definitely make his own decisions (if we let him). You really have to stay on top of your game as a parent - it's way easier to give in or ignore bad behaviour, but we would pay big time in the end! Let's just say the wooden spoon never leaves our site. More than anything this little boy is such a joy, so loving, gives the best sugar, tells us he LOVES us, and genuinely LOVES people. He is all about Thomas the Train, tractors, trucks, tools, and anything else that is ALL BOY!!

I love hearing what comes out of his mouth. As I was sweeping the floor the other day he was trying to walk through the pile of trash - something he is constantly doing. I was trying to get him away from the pile when he tells me, "mommy, be patient." I just laughed out loud - if he hears it, he will repeat it!!! Last night I was calling for Chris who was in the back of the house, and Warner says, "mommy, daddy's in the shower...he can't hear you." I just looked at him and said thanks Warner...

He is growing up so fast, but it's okay - I know he can't stay a baby forever. That's why we have got to say bye bye to the by by (paci) and start this potty training business!!!! I have been so lazy about both of these things...and now it is definitely time! Wish us luck. My plan is to tackle the potty training after Thankgiving holidays and to give up the paci by Christmas. I've been talking up a little plan with Warner about giving our by by's to Santa and then Santa will give them to all the babies for Christmas. We'll see! I know it's going to be rather dramatic....for me and him!

Happy 2 1/2 year birthday baby boy...one things for sure - YOU ARE LOVED!!

cookie scavenger hunt

We took Warner downtown this morning for a cookie scavenger hunt. We started out with story time, then Santa came, and finally they got to decorate a cookie. The kids had to go from store to store to find Santa's cookies - it was really cute! Warner was not too sure about Santa Clause - he just barried his head in my shoulder, but when it was time for Santa to leave Waner was the first one to tell him bye! He was glad to see him go!! He's growing up too fast...looks like such a big boy with his new haircut.

1st ER visit

Long story short - Warner got into some prescription pain medicine yesterday morning. He found it in our closet in a bowl - we didn't even know it was there. I guess he thought it was candy, and no, it did not have a child proof cap on it! SCARY SCARY moment for a mommy to find her son with white stuff in his mouth and not know what it is. My first thought was that he had gotten some gum, then I quickly realized it wasn't gum. He led me to the closet where I saw the pill bottle on the floor with the top off. I panicked!! I don't even really remember what I did first....but we ended up at the emergency room. Chris met us there driving over 100 miles per hour, running every red light....he was a little worried. BUT, PRAISE GOD we think he only ate 1 pill, maybe 2 and he was fine. The doctor checked him out and we were released. We are so thankful today to be at home and not in the hospital and most importantly that we have a healthy little boy.

so so sweet

poor baby woke up from his nap yesterday with a fever...I think it was a reaction to the flu shot he got this week. He was so pitiful, but was still willing to perform for the camera...and YES, I can understand every word - can't you??

picnic with daddy

We had a picnic with daddy today out on the farm, but it was too cold to eat outside....so we picniced in the car. AND...Warner just couldn't leave without riding the tractor. He has his own combine, tractor, grain cart, & 18 wheeler truck at home. He can tell you the whole process of harvest - the combine cuts the corn/rice/beans and puts it in the grain cart, the grain cart takes it to the truck, etc. It makes one daddy very proud!!!

"I want..."

This is a daily thing at our house. Warner gets the sheet that comes with every Thomas train and picks out which one he wants. We always tell him that maybe Santa will bring him some trains. His response is "mommy get it." Ha Ha!! Funny little boy... BTW, he can name every single train on the sheet!!!!

Warner's room: UPDATE

Mary Evelyn finished the painting....it was definitely worth the wait!! I LOVE it!! And more importantly so does Warner - which is not surprising considering his love for choo choo trains. Thank you Mary Evelyn!!!

the colors are perfect!
