eczema

3 hours in the doctors office
2 medicines by mouth
1 antibiotic cream
my baby has ECZEMA!!!!
the worst spots are on his forehead and the back of his thighs
It all started with a little rough spot on his forehead (right at his hair line) and then I started noticing other spots - one on his eyebrow, one on his back, one on his leg. Then it went from bad to horrible - now it is all over his little body - little red bumps everywhere!!
My pediatrician looked right at him and said it's definitely eczema...she also said he must be miserable...
The worst part is it "cannot be cured. It will come and go." Now we have to change everything - soap, shampoo, laundry detergent, etc.
I just want it to go away!!
HELP!!!!

I'm a dork I know but i listen to this medical talk show on mississippi public radio and the pediatrician they had on recently said aquaphor is great and the best thing you can do is never touch your child without moisturizing him-in other words just do it all day long all the time not just after baths (although very important then to seal them in after soaking them or something like that) anyway-just lube him up all the time and you will keep it at a minimum-good luck!!

Bless his heart! Parker had that when he was a baby but his did get better and kinda grew out of it. It is worse in the winter months. We used Aveeno back then but aquaphor does do a great job as a protectant. Also, foods will effect it sometimes. If you just tried a new food and it got worse or popped up, you might want to back off of that and see what happens! I feel for him because this pregnancy has given me the worse dry itchy skin! I feel like a dog with fleas some days!

Jackson's Mamaw Rayner and his great-uncle Craig both have eczema. We'll pray he's much better soon. Love, "B"

Everett has eczema. Leah's doctor gave him some type of oil for the bathtub and a bunch of other concoctions. I know he also told her to use All Free & Clear detergent and no fabric softener. Everett's has gotten alot better as he's gotten older!

Yuck! Bryce had it really bad as a baby, but has totally outgrown it now (really had after his 2nd winter). We use regular Dove bar soap for both kids and when Bryce was a baby we used the Cetaphil tub lotion (really thick stuff) right after bath and first thing in the morning. We also had prescriptions for Elidel and a steroid cream for when it would get really bad (his would break open and bleed). Good luck figuring out what works for him and hopefully he will outgrow it soon.

That little man just needs his Kissy to lube him up with lotion (like she ALWAYS does)!!!!!! Except I guess we'll hafta use Aquaphor instead of the good smelling kind I like!

I was covered with eczema when I was little and still battle patches during cold weather. I use all free and clear detergent, don't use perfume, use only Aveeno products (unscented), hypoallergenic facewash/makeup and Aquaphor on bad patches. Different foods can flair mine up, too. My mom had to keep a food diary when I was little to try and determine which foods caused the most problems. Hopefully Jackson will outgrow his quickly. MW had it for a few months when she was a baby. I used only unscented Aveeno products, unscented, hypoallergenic wipes, free and clear detergent...on her. After a little steroid cream, hers went away. If you have any questions, feel free to email.
